Why writing suddenly got hard

Lately I've been thinking a lot about creativity and creative work.
I kept wondering why it's been so hard for me these days to write a new article, a newsletter, or even a short post.

Most of my time actually goes into how I get more reach, how I stand out, how I become more visible in public.
Concretely, that means I think very strategically. I choose one approach and rule out another.

That work is future-focused and analytical.

Writing is completely different. I think about what would matter to you. I have a quiet conversation with myself.
I consider what caught my attention.

That work stays in the present and takes in everything.

For me, strategy is like a laser beam, while writing feels more like warm, indirect light.

These are two different parts of my personality.
I can do one as well as the other. And normally, both come easily to me.

My mistake was not seeing that strategy and writing need the same decision-making energy.

For my analytical side, it was obvious. I hadn't realized that I also have to decide when it comes to my creative side.

So I wrongly assumed that after a day of strategy work, I should easily be able to write a newsletter too.
At least, that's not true for me.

Both come from the same place in me. Both take my energy.
Switching from one to the other is not a reset.

It's surprising how many things I decide without noticing.
